Re: Callum Marshall
Made his debut for West Brom yesterday on 65 mins.
Had a hand in the goal.

Re: Callum Marshall
He's the lastest Academy player I have high hopes for. Nothing's guaranteed of course in Football but I do think he's got half a chance of making it. Been so impressed with him since arriving in the Academy. Hopefully he gets at least half an hour tonight to prove himself.

Re: Callum Marshall
Been disappointed with his opportunities so far.

20 mins in his first game, then next to fuck all in the next 2... despite 5 subs being made and another striker coming on and going off long-term injured 10 mins later.

Might not be the best place for him

Re: Callum Marshall
I think he would have been better being a sub with the first team

Massive Attack 11:30 Fri Feb 16
Re: Callum Marshall
Aye. After playing just half an hour as a Sub in his 1st game debut after only just rocking up at the Baggies, he's heavily involved in the build up to their only goal winner in a Brum Derby.

Get him on the pitch and he'll cause defences damage, be it Birmingham in a derby or for Northen Ireland away against Denmark all on his debut appearances.

Let's not dress this up it's fucking shit, so what I'd be asking is why did we send him there? I thought at the time it didn't look right.

Where would 'send' him? Bearing in mind they'd need to want him too

Manuel 9:47 Sat Feb 17
Re: Callum Marshall
Where? You 'send him' to a club where he is going to get game time or what's the point? In the unlikely event that nobody else wanted him then he stays and continues his development at the club, which would be better than him sitting on the bench at poxy WBA.

Now off you go and disagree.

Re: Callum Marshall
He has gone to a playoff level team who have been in good form
20 mins in his first game, sat on the bench on Tuesday and given 30 mins last night.
Understand they were outplayed by Southampton (Flynn Downes had a late fitness test but didnt make it) & he was sent on with the game in the balance at 0-1. Finished 0-2
Still have 14 League games (& maybe playoffs) & am sure he will get chances under a good manager in Carlos Corberan ... was an assistant under Bielsa at Leeds & took Huddersfield to the Championship final where they got done by an own goal and some questionable refereeing
Hopefully experience at this level will see him learn a lot so he comes back ready to play under our new manager

Re: Callum Marshall
It was stated that there were at least 3 Championship teams that wanted him and WBA fought off competition. He's been in the squad for 4 games, not 3

Corboran is a decent manager but it looks like the stakes are too high for him

Bottom line is would he be better not playing for them, not playing for us but keeping up confidence and scoring regularly for our reserves or playing consistently for a team lower down in the Championship or even at the top of league 1

I know what I think

Re: Callum Marshall
At least it was better than the last game. They made 4 substitutions to the fron four and still left him on the bench.

Such a waste.

Re: Callum Marshall
I watched the game last night

When he came on he looked about 12 compared to the players around him.

As hard as he tried nothing came off, I do worry that his size may be a problem for the Prem League

Re: Callum Marshall
Yeah, I get that... which is why I think he'd probably have been better off going to the third tier and playing regularly. After all, it didn't do Defoe any harm going to Bournemouth at a similar age

El Scorchio 4:41 Sat Feb 17
Re: Callum Marshall
Defoe was different class though. It’s unfair make comparisons.

3 x stand outs for me from last seasons all conquering youth team

Kodua, Earthy and Orford

Not comparing them as players at all, but if you do consider that Defoe was in a different class to Marshall and League One was the right place for him, surely it lends weight to the argument that a promotion-seeking Championship club wasn't the best place for Callum?

May be injured but Kodua not figuring at Wycombe, not even on the bench as far as I can see.
